Overview:
This is a “character” story according to the MICE categories. This is really Veldan’s “coming of age” story. It takes place over the time from when he is 19 to when he is 25 (or the story might wrap up sooner, I don’t want to fast-forward too much). Basically I will start when he is 19 and seeking his place, and I will wrap up whenever he finds his new comfortable place in the world. He may or may not be done training at the end of the story, but his attraction to Elori will be resolved one way or another.

Timeline

Start:
Veldan is playing the flute for tips at an elf hangout tavern
Elori observes him, possibly giving him a tip or a comment, but does not introduce herself
One or two days later, Rynris comes to the tavern and observes him for a while, then offers him a job as a household servant
Possibly some brief view of Veldan at home, with his sisters and brother. Veldan is passive toward his siblings, having always been the youngest.

First month:
Veldan presents himself at Rynris’ home
Rynris presents an offer: Do household tasks daily, for a set amount.
? What type of tasks does Rynris want him to do
Rynris introduces Elori; Veldan recognizes her but does not say so
Veldan agrees to do work for Rynris
Rynris reveals himself to be a mage, Veldan is interested and asks questions
Veldan is attracted to Elori but does not show it
? What is happening to Veldan’s sisters and brother during this time?
Veldan is still passive toward his older brother and sisters, but is increasingly uncomfortable with this.

Second month:
Rynris says there is an extra room available, for Veldan’s use if he should desire.
? Possible sources of friction for Veldan at home? Maybe he just gets tired of sharing a room with his brother? Maybe a confrontation with his siblings causes him to move out? If his sister is skeptical or wary of magic users, she could try to make him not see Rynris anymore and he would defy her.
Veldan moves into Rynris’ home
Rynris offers to train Veldan to use his gift
Veldan masters the first lesson, probably channelling his energy and storing it by playing

Fast forward a bit, maybe 6 months:
Elori still teases him in a little-brother kind of way
Veldan responds by studying harder and being competitive
Teasing between the two becomes more flirty? possibly. He would at least tease back instead of being passive.
? Somehow Elori finds out about his feelings for her. How would she respond? Would Rynris find out, and if so how would he respond?

Some future time:
Veldan starts to mature, physically and emotionally.
? Perhaps Elori becomes attracted to him later? If something were to happen between them, this might precipitate him having to move out.

Other things to throw in wherever:
Introduce Elori’s maternal relatives, possibly coming for dinner or something. Some of them remember her mother and talk about her.

Unresolved questions.
